Liverpool players return to training for light workout after their Champions League win over Red Star as focus turns to weekend clash with Cardiff
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had his players back in training on Thursday less than 24 hours after their 4-0 win over Red Star at Anfield.
Wednesday night's big win over the Serbian side saw Liverpool return to the top ofChampions League Group C, but their focus now returns to domestic matters with Cardiff coming to Merseyside on Saturday.
Xherdan Shaqiri, Dejan Lovren, Andrew Robertson, Alisson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana all trained at Melwood on Thursday as the Reds began preparation for their next Premier League encounter.
Shaqiri has often been used in Liverpool's three-man attack since joining from Stoke, but he started in a deeper role against Red Star.
'Sometimes it is not simple because the manager changes a few things, but you have to do your best,' Shaqiri explained.
'You can see on the pitch we have a lot of good players and creativity and we are together. I am proud to have started in the Champions League.'
Roberto Firmino, who opened the scoring against Red Star, was also involved in Thursday's session and wore a hat to stay warm on a cloudy afternoon.
Saturday's meeting at Anfield will be only the third Premier League game between Cardiff and Liverpool. The first two served up 13 goals, with Liverpool winning 6-3 and 3-1 in the 2013-14 season.
