Mommy's mini-me! Serena Williams' 11-month-old Alexis Olympia wears an adorable tutu dress that looks just like her mother's trendy on-court outfits as they head to the US Open together
Serena Williams' 11-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia was her style mini-me on Thursday as she accompanied her mom to the US Open.
Serena, 36, was photographed leaving her Manhattan hotel today, on her way to Queens for Day 4 of the American tennis tournament.
In one arm, she toted little Olympia, who was dressed up in a frilly rainbow tutu not unlike the ones her mom has been wearing to compete in.
Serena wore black leggings, a purple top, and a Nike visor as she walked outside carrying her little girl.
Olympia, in her arms, snuggled close in her tulle tutu-style dress, which was a rainbow of pastel colors.
Her mom also dressed her in little white socks and tiny black shoes, and appeared to cover her diaper with frilly underwear.
Olympia was the spitting image of her mom on the court just the day before, when Serena beat Carina Witthoeft of Germany at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre.
Serena had worn a purple dress for the occasion, which ruffled at the bottom in a girlie tiered tutu and featured one sleeve on top.
The outfit, designed by Louis Vuitton's Virgil Abloh in conjunction with Serena's sponsor Nike as part of the Off-White x Nike collection, was teamed with a matching headband and sneakers.
The collection is quite aptly named 'Queen'.
On August 27, Serena wore another tutu dress from the same collection to play Magda Linette of Poland.
That dress, a black one, was paired with sparkly silver sneakers.
After she wore it, Abloh took to Instagram to share a photo and write that he was 'willing to design dresses for her for life.'
'With Serena, we have one of our generation's most powerful, inspiring athletes as the muse,' he said in a statement from the brand, according toHarper's Bazaar. 'I was trying to embody her spirit and bring something compelling and fresh to tennis.'
While little Olympia is clearly taking 'inspiration' from her mom's style, the tot is also inspiring Serena.
In May, the 24-time Grand Slam title winner announced the launch of a fashion line called Serena, and admitted that it was her daughter who pushed her to do it.
'My inspiration was strength — bringing femininity and strength to the modern woman. My goal is for women to feel confident and sexy when they’re wearing it. It’s practical and wearable, yet it makes you feel good and walk taller — everyone should have that feeling,' she told BAZAAR.com.
'Ever since [giving birth to] Olympia I was like, "Okay I have a daughter, I want her to feel good about herself." She is strong already, so I want her to feel beautiful and I want to spread that message through the collection.'
While Serena is game to play dress-up with Olympia, the tot won't be wearing a birthday crown when she turns one next month.
During a press conference on Saturday, she revealed that she won't be celebrating her daughter's first birthday in September due to religious beliefs.
'Olympia doesn't celebrate birthdays,' the 36-year-old tennis pro said. 'We're Jehovah's Witnesses, we don't do that.'
Practicing Jehovah's Witnesses do not observe holidays they believe to have a pagan origin — such as Christmas, Easter, and birthdays.
According to an interview with Vogue in 2017, Serena hasn't been an active participant in the faith until recently.
'Being a Jehovah's Witness is important to me, but I've never really practiced it and have been wanting to get into it,' she said.
It appears that her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, is OK with that.
'Alexis didn’t grow up going to any church, but he’s really receptive and even takes the lead. He puts my needs first,' Williams toldVogue when they got married.
